What is St. Louis' Most Underrated Dive Bar?

underrateddives.jpg
Sophie's Place. | Jaime Lees

Dive bars are, by definition, underrated, but we want to know where our readers hang out. Sure, we love getting dolled up and sipping a made-for-you cocktail in the lounge at Element, but we're starving reporters. We can't be doing that all the time. That's the beauty of the dive -- it's cheap, it's not crowded, it's laid back.

So let us know in the comments -- what dive bar do you think we should be checking out? At the end of the week we'll round up the nominations and take it to a vote.

And the Hideaway. You walk in, and you feel like you're in a David lynch movie.

Lindner's Pub is great. Used to be Ferguson's on Mount Pleasant. They just reopened the kitchen and their burgers are ahhhh-mazing!

Lindner's Pub on Mount Pleasant. Awesome crew, friendly and they are just getting their kitchen going with some great food!

I actually have found that biker guys and gals are the nicest people. That's been my experience anyway! :)

I'm sorry that happened. I'm sure it was just a random person. I go there a lot and am met with nothing but acceptance and respect regardless of who is there. I too know a lot of the people who perform there but I've also been pleased to make brand new friends there that I met at Charlack for the first time.

For some reason I've had too many bad biker experiences shying me away from anything biker related. :-(

I only went there once, and the second my bf and I got out of the car this biker guy {drunk} was getting on his bike {bad combo.} and tried to start a fight with my guy? It sucked cuz that was my introduction to this place. Inside was cool but that's because I knew all the band guys. It felt as if you had to be one of them to "stay"?

Muser,s Pub it's a great place to hang out listen to some tunes on the jukebox have a few cocktails and maybe some video bowling or keno. It's a neighborhood dive located at Ivanhoe and Scanlan in South St. Louis the bartenders are very personable and attentive. They even have a small patio in the back.

I love Charlack Pub and have never experienced what Tessa Smith is referring to. They welcome me there no matter how I look and it's got the greatest live music and fun. :-)

I think Charlack Pub is probably the coolest Dive, but I also know that many people shy away from that place because of "some" of the biker jerks that like to harass non biker types that want to go in there. It's as if those particular bikers don't want outsiders coming in? That's too bad, I'm sure the owners {whom I've heard nothing but good things about} don't appreciate certain customers of theirs actually preventing others from trying this place. Definitely a close knit group.

I generally tend to find the upscale bars more appealing than the downtown ashtrays..The people are not as dirty and toothless
