If you're a patron of the Saint Louis Bread Co. in Richmond Heights on Clayton Road, don't be confused by news that there's a Saint Louis Bread Co, opening just across the street in a space formerly occupied by Applebee's. No, saturation levels have not reached epic new heights -- it's just that the old Bread Co. is moving into a new space. The new and improved one will open in August.

Panera acquired the space earlier this year through Pace Properties, and construction has been ongoing to transform it into a brand-new location. Our educated guess is that the move will allow the Bread Co. far more parking for patrons, but no word yet on whether it'll be a drive-through (fingers crossed). The new location will be at 6734 Clayton Road.

"With this relocation, we are taking the opportunity to provide a more spacious and updated space for our customers and associates. This move will also allow us to hire for an additional ten positions. We're excited to better serve our neighbors in Richmond Heights," joint venture partner Bob Rentfro told us via e-mail.

Same thing for the original Bread Co in Kirkwood. Moving across street to open a drive through window.

Had breakfast in that place the morning after I recorded a little song called Guilty.

Same thing is happening in Kirkwood, as they're building one in the parking lot to Schnucks on Manchester.

Why would anyone go to Breadco when you can go to Blue City Deli or the 9th Street Deli instead?

So that's what's going into the former Applebee's space ... I can see the bigger space, parking etc. reasons, but dang it, now I have to cross that darn street to get there ...

FYI. The present Clayton location is on Central Ave.

Actually, that side of the street is Clayton and the other side Richmond Heights. And without reading this article it definitely has to be due to terrible parking over there.

They obviously need more parking space..........Drive-throughs are great at SLB; same good quality and service. Minus the pleasant dine-in eating experience; but it would attract a lot of busy local workers.

Thank GOD! The current one is just too small, and especially during lunch hours.
