Majic Market in Kirkwood Has Closed

Majic Market (640 West Woodbine Avenue, Kirkwood) has closed after more than 40 years in business. Current owners Keith and Paula Willis bought the market and deli in 2012. They announced on Majic Market's Facebook page this past weekend that it was closed for good. It has been closed since at least June 17.

We are especially sad about this not just because it's a Kirkwood institution, but because we judged a super-delicious sandwich competition there a few months ago. For the time being, Majic's cookies will be available at the Kirkwood Farmers' Market, but Willis is looking for a venue for the gyros -- perhaps a food truck.

The Willises did not immediately respond to e-mails for comment, but we'll update if we are able to get in touch with them.

It would seem with all the cut thru traffic on Woodbine, they would have done well! But the building they are in is showing it's age! Perhaps the owner wanted to raise the rate!
