Lush Life for Mississippi Nights?

Mississippi Nights hasn't even closed yet, but speculation about its new location continues to run rampant. I reported in this week's paper that the venue is considering relocating to a new facility on Olive and Compton, near the site of the proposed Saint Louis University arena. Today's St. Louis Post-Dispatch brings a different spin from music critic Kevin Johnson:

"The buzz is that Mississippi Nights and a new nightclub and dining club called Lush could join forces within a four-level, 11,000-square-foot complex at 3037 Olive Street, near the Loft Jazz Club, later this year. This would 'provide St. Louis the ultimate entertainment venue it deserves,' according to information at www.myspace.com/lushstl."

Indeed, as of this past weekend that MySpace page said: "begining december 2007, Lush & Mississippi Nights will attach to provide St. Louis the ultimate entertainment venue it deserves."

That was news to Mississippi Nights co-owner Rich Frame, who, when I asked him about it before we went to press, told me he'd "never heard of ï¿½em."

Reached via a MySpace message, a representative from Lush declined to comment.

When I checked the page after communicating with both parties, the phrase linking the two had disappeared.
