The Week in Rock

Rawk!
In case you didn't get a chance to pick up the print edition of the RFT yet (or peruse the online version), here's what's going on this week in a handy nutshell:

First, catch feature stars the Silversun Pickups at Vintage Vinyl at 5:30 p.m. next Wednesday, April 4. The LA quartet will be performing an in-store, its only free show in town and only chance to catch them if you don't have tickets to its sold-out Pageant show with Snow Patrol.

Also head to Vintage Vinyl on Sunday, April 1, where country legend Charlie Louvin -- who we previewed in B-Sides -- will be performing at 4 p.m., his only St. Louis appearance. Fellow B-Side star Patty Griffin is at the Pageant on Friday, March 30.

More shows after the jump...

Tonight at the Way Out Club is Bang! Bang! with That's My Daughter and Sex Robots. Watermelon Slim is at BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups tonight as well.

Steve Forbert is at the Focal Point tomorrow night.

Saturday at the Billiken Club, catch Youth Group, who will be playing with St. Louis favorites Aqueduct. The latter's new Barsuk album, Or Give Me Death, is full of sublime, '70s-inspired soft-synth-rock. Highlight: "Broken Records."

Sunday finds Grandpa's Ghost floating together for a show at White Flag Projects.

The Haunted is at Pop's on Tuesday night alongside Dark Tranquility and Into Eternity. And the Hard Lessons are at the Creepy Crawl on Wednesday night -- the day after a set by synthrockers the Static Age and some pretty excellent local bands (including the Bureau debuting its new lineup and a group it was suggested I check out, Caporetto).

Also, bad news for people slow on the ticket-buying: Both Sean Lennon's Thursday, April 19 Duck Room show and the Decemberists' April 14 show at the Pageant are sold out.
