Minty fresh Starlight Mints!

Blueberry Hill's Duck Room (6504 Delmar Boulevard, University City) announced three shows today: Starlight Mints, Oklahoma's second-most-famous indie band (hi, Flaming Lips!) will perform on Friday, May 4. Concrete Blonde vocalist Johnette Napolitano performs on May 31. Much-ballyhooed five-piece the National will play on Monday, June 11; Shapes & Sizes will open the show.

Fans of really smooth music rejoice: Two smooth jazz showcases are coming to the Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard) this summer: The first, called Guitars & Saxes, takes place on Saturday, June 24 and features axemen Jeff Golub and Tim Bowman alongside saxmen Kirk Whalum and Gerald Albright. The second, Jazz Attack, comes to town on Friday, July 20 and features Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler, Richard Elliot and Peter White.

Also coming to the Pageant on Friday, June 8 is bass-guitar maniac Les Claypool; Two Gallants will open the show. Columbia, Missouri's Bockman will celebrate the release of their latest CD on Saturday, May 12.

The Dreadful Yawns, who released their mellow-folk album Early on local label Undertow Records a few years back, will come to Lemmons this Friday, April 13. Yacht, the project of Jona from the Blow, will perform at the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center (3301 Lemp Avenue) on Friday, May 18. Punk-rock activists Propagandhi will play at the Creepy Crawl (3524 Washington Boulevard) on Sunday, May 27.

Finally, the musical acts for this year's Fair St. Louis and Live on the Levee series were announced this week. Notables for the Fair include Rocco DeLuca and the Goo Goo Dolls (Tuesday, July 3) and Cyndi Lauper (Wednesday, July 4). The free Live on the Levee series features, among others, Emmylou Harris (Saturday, July 7), Ani DiFranco (Friday, July 20) and Pete Yorn (Saturday, July 21).
