R.I.P. Eddie Fisher, Legendary St. Louis Jazz Guitarist

Categories: Music

As I was driving home from work today, I noticed that Vintage Vinyl's marquee announced the passing of legendary St. Louis psych-funk-jazz guitarist Eddie Fisher. His 1971 album, Eddie Fisher & The Next One Hundred Years, used to command beaucoup bucks on eBay as a cult item before being reissued on Verve in early 2006.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Fisher around the release of One Hundred Years, and he was a kind, genuine man with a flair for storytelling and a gentle demeanor. (If I can find my tape, I'll post some quotes, although that might be iffy, sadly.)

RFT contributor Dean C. Minderman wrote a very nice obituary at his blog, St. Louis Jazz Notes; watch that space for further details about memorial services and such.
