St. Louis Weekend Round-up: September 14-16, 2007

So much going on this weekend. My goodness. Here are some highlights:

Friday, September 14
As we talked about in the paper, Bloc Party, Smoosh and Final Fantasy play the Pageant tonight at 8 p.m. Tickets are $22. Also as we talked about in the paper (and below), Los Straitjackets land at Beale on Broadway with Big Sandy and Deke Dickerson.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention that 2 Cents Plain, the venue we talked about here, has its grand opening tonight, with a show featuring Sex Robots, the Humanoids and Ded Bugs. Good times! I'll be heading there next weekend and will have a full report then.

Other shows of note tonight:
*Molly Hatchet (acoustic), Lucas School House

Saturday, September 15
All day Saturday (and Sunday, too) in the Grove around Manchester between Sarah and Boyle is Grovefest. Bands playing include (but aren't limited to) the Museum Mutters, Walkie Talkie U.S.A., Left Arm, Rough Shop, Kentucky Knife Fight, Gumbohead, Melody Den, Long John Thomas and the Duffs, Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship, Grace Basement and more. The Lot starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, noon on Sunday.

Team Tomato is playing at Mangia tomorrow night -- and the band is debuting its fifth member, a keyboard player. Also, Bunnygrunt is playing its 400th show at Lemmons, and special guests such as Sex Robots and That's My Daughter will be there, among others.

Other shows of note:
*They Might Be Giants/Oppenheimer, the Pageant, $22.50
*Victoria/Hibernauts/Cold War Direction/Dead Elephants, Bluebird
*Berlin Whale/Ecstatic Sunshine, Billiken Club
*Koffin Kats/7 Shot Screamers

Sunday, September 16
Rest. Or get your emo-goth on and go see Aiden, Drop Dead, Gorgeous/Still Remains and 1997 at the Creepy Crawl
