• "Gregor" -- a.k.a. Joe Payne -- is just sad that he'll never be able to write for the Arr Eff Tee, since a mandatory part of the writing test is spelling Mike Cracchiolo's last name correctly. Which has never happened.

• "so many dynashits"? That's like a sub-Limbaughian "dumbocrat" joke. What about: "too many dynamos" "so many dynamorons" "so manly dynahos" take note, and troll properly. favorite VHS tape currently in my possession? my pre-Youtube era video music collection, on one tape, of performances from concrete blonde, beck, alice in chains, pearl jam, sonic youth, nirvana, Paul Weller, et al. from SNL, 120 Minutes, (some shit from headbanger's ball, I think) and the Jon Stewart show (!) that, or the Judas Priest "Live! in 1985!" concert tape I won as a door prize at Magee's.

• i saw this beta movie called "Can't Believe a Single Word" it was some god awful shite! then i was subjected to one of the worst bands in st. louis call so many dynashits. they like carchiolo and others now "write" for their friends biased shitty paper...no wonder stl has no reputation for original music.

• In 1983 my Father set up a tripod in a movie theatre and bootlegged Return of The Jedi. It is the best BETA of all time because it actually isnt bad to watch, and it is funny to picture someone recording a film with one of those huge BETA camcorders.

• My Great Uncle Arthur, who really opened my eyes about movies, lent me a poorly-dubbed copy of "Aliens" on VHS back when I was 13. That movie quickly became a favorite, influencing my burgeoning love of sci-fi, James Cameron, Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman. Despite knowing it was illict and probably not appropriate for a 13 year old, I was riveted by the action, the swearing, the grotesque creatures, the bad-ass space marines and the extreme drama. [Tell me you don't get the chills when Sigourney Weaver stomps out of the loading dock wearing that robo-suit and says, "Get away from her, you BITCH!"] To this day, "Aliens" is still one of my favorite movies. I have a habit of watching the newer DVD version once a month. The new version is a "Director's Cut" which extends the already long movie into an almost 3 hour epic. Even so, I'd still kill to have that old, poorly-dubbed copy from Uncle Art's house. Just for kicks.

• I actually had a Beta VCR for far longer than should have been allowed. It ended up in my bedroom until the early 90s, mainly because one day while exploring the basement I found a stash of Beta tapes that included Beverly Hills Cop 2, The Running Man, and porn. Ron Jeremy porn. So I would have to say that my favorite Beta movie was some unnamed porn starring Ron Jeremy. The tape was labeled Taxi Girls, but the movie itself only said #117 or whatever, and was just a random collection of random porn scenes, each with some flimsy excuse for the porning, and a few of them starting a younger, less portly but still fugly Ron Jeremy. As to why this was my favorite Beta movie (or VHS movie) it's because it opened up a whole new world to me, a world of spanking it. It was truly a life changing event.
