Coachella 2008 Complete Line-up Announced: Kraftwerk, Roger Waters, Love and Rockets, Death Cab for Cutie, Jack Johnson

• In regard to music festivals in Saint Louis, Noisefest at the Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center. Mhmm.

• Aside from the 'fests already mentioned, there's some smaller ones that are generally awesome like Loop In Motion, as well as the 2nd year of PlayFestSTL, which is going to be rather big. We have everything other cities have... what is up with the haters? We might not be hosting Lollapalooza, but does Perry Ferrell really need to tell you a band is good before you go to see them?

• The Fest you refer to was the MRMF, aka The Mississippi River Music Festival, aka MR. MotherFucker. They were pretty cool, tons of good bands, nice sense of community. Don't think they ever had the draw to get people from other cities (aside from those actually in the bands) to come in for it, though, which is probably why they stopped doing them. For my money, no day of music in this city is more fun than the Showcase Day. It's concise, it's generally accurate ( but more metal bands this year, please!), it's a big drunken mess of awesome. • I've been to Indio - I spent the night there driving from Pensacola back to SF. Cool little town. Home to the George S. Patton museum. Personally, I love the desert. Anyways, there's only a few bands I'd even remotely want to see. Breeders, Madness, Sharon Jones, Portishead... And that's about it.

• for what it's worth, i believe Portishead will probably go on a club tour. and i know i'd much rather see them in a theater than in the desert. no radiohead, no my bloody valentine. eh. i'm holding out for Lollapalooza. todd, the RFT holds a music showcase every year (HATERS TO THREAD!). this year it's on Sunday, June 1. It's an all-day fest in the Loop featuring a ton of local bands. It's always a lot of fun. Also, back in the day there was something called the Mississippi River Festival. In the 1990s, there was also a big rock fest in STL that was considered the SXSW of the Midwest. I can't think of the name right now, but they had a ton of venues featuring local and national touring bands. Maybe someone who posts here remembers whwat it was called.

• St. Louis is a festival in its own right. A festival of dicks, that is.

• well Todd, there was that one festival i don't remember what it was called but i do remember that it was more than just a showcase

• So this is the Bonnaroo lineup, right?

• Yeah, it's a shame that there won't be any MBV, but having both Spiritualized and the Verve makes up for it. I don't own any Dwight Yoakam, but he's OK in my book for all his love for the Gram Parsons school of country. I think the biggest shocker is seeing Jack Johnson as the headliner... Great line-up, but there's still no way I'm flying out to California to see it. Does St. Louis host any decent festivals?

• I was told MBV was to reunite for Coachella...I guess that's a no-go. I think it'd be neat to see Kraftwerk and the Verve. And, Dwight Yoakum, wtf? I didn't realize he was every indie kid's country wet dream.

• When I saw the word PORTISHEAD I had a massive nerd-gasm. Obviously, for Beth Gibbons and crew, I'm f-in' goin'

• GO!

• Friday's lineup is the only one that seems really consistent. Although I am curious to hear what new tales Love & Rockets has to tell. (If it were a Tones on Tail reunion, that would really be compelling.)
