Old 97's Rhett Miller, Luna's Dean Wareham Double as Authors

My old pal Dave Daley runs a Web site called FiveChapters.com, a fantastic site featuring a new, five-part serialized story every week by some of the world's best-known authors. (Each installment is posted one a day during the work-week; hence the name.)

This week, the site's featuring something a little different: A story by Rhett Miller of the Old 97's, titled Tender Til the Day I Die. Miller's done some journalistic writing in the past, so the story's well worth checking out.

Another rocker-turned-writer is Dean Wareham of the late, great New York band Luna (and before that, Galaxie 500). He's due to publish an autobiography on March 13 called Black Postcards: A Rock & Roll Romance. Via Chromewaves, there's an excerpt of the book at Men's Vogue -- and wow. Hello, salacious: The portion published details his infatuation and subsequent affair with Britta Phillips, the break-up of his marriage and dissolution of Luna. I'm hooked.

Wareham and Phillips now record as Dean and Britta, and will be releasing a remix EP tomorrow, called Variations.
