Riddle of Steel, Shame Club Playing SXSW

• I agree, that thing that was once cool is no longer cool because other people like it. Does all that posing ever lead to muscle cramps, or back problems?

• The lineup that Shame Club is playing with is pants-peeing worthy. Sasquatch = awesome. I won't be able to make it down but even some of the non-SXSW shows that are going on are worth driving down there for.

• Tis true, tis true. The year I went, most time was spent kickin' it with friends I never get to see, established bands I'd never get to see, and freaking out/tracking down every single reunited American Music Club peformance, all of which were muaghsdkekjawej.aw.ekkkw.w..w.wwww.......zzz. Man I want some fukkn migas right now. Who's up for a Sunday night drive to Tejas?

• from personal experience (i.e., last five or so years), SXSW has turnd into Indie Hipster Spring Break. a.k.a. the nerdiest Mardi Gras evah. crowded, fratty, etc. but man, the tequila. and the mexican food. mmm. and there are worse places to go than austin. and yes, if you're hoping to go get signed via SXSW, try again. it's a showcase for new bands/labels pushing new signees.

• I've said it before & I'll say it again... CMJ & SXSW are lies. They're just lies. For an unsigned band without an already rolling hype machine they are pretty much meaningless. That said, if you go with the intention of just having some fun & seeing some out of town friends, and seeing some good bands, you'll be just fine. Oh, and eating some migas. And eating at Stubbs. And pouring some out for Mike Blake. God, I miss Mike Blake. Cheers! Matt
