RFT Music Showcase 2008: Sunday, June 1 in the Loop

• Once again another great list of nominees!!! Unfortunately you rarely see many of the bands nominated on a regular basis. You can see the Bottlerockets how many times a year? Magnolia Summer still plays in town? The best blues artist category looks nearly identical to last year..Surely STL Blues has more to offer than this.(Come to Soulard or Broadway any given night). The Conformist have been on the nominee list since 2002; Coincidentally, I believe that is the last time they played a real show. I'm once again baffled by the RFT's recognititon of the staus quo on our scene here in the LOU. Great work bands that aren't in this who's who list and keep trying, maybe Annie will go to different shows next year!!

• Wow, has it realllllly been a whole years?! O whr duz der time goin'? Last year I got hammered (soup-lies) and treated the evening as my sweet-sixteen comin'-out re-entrance to (lowlife)society. This year? Prolly more of the same! Ooo I cinnut wait. Muh-muh-muh maaaaango. Whre thell is J. Paynenen? I ain't got no fuels for fruititude without a troll to tweak my tude-itude. -jw

• What Annie really means is she just picks all the bands that send her goodie bags filled with green M&M's. Darren

• there are no applications for the showcase; performers are chosen from music award nominees. the ballot is chosen from opinions of a wide variety of music community folks in town and staffers. that (hopefully) will be out around the first week of april.

• I for one am excited at my chance to apply for this... I need MOAR INFOZ!

• I miss Joe Payne.
