If you live in the UK, or you have been living in a cave, with only the albums by VNV Nation available to you, then you are about to be delighted with songs about devoted love, friendship, and unicorns that are so beautiful they will make you puke up kittens, well, maybe not. Femme Fatality is two brothers from St. Louis, Missouri, US, and they know how to party. The album is full of themes regarding the debauchery of sex, drugs, liquor, and behavior that your mom would not be proud of. I wouldn�t say the lyrics are totally offensive, but they are definitely dirty, in a good way. The songs are fun and full of energy. Mix synth-pop and electro-punk style with rapping vocals and a variety of other vocal styles, all done with multiple, effected voice tracks that you would swear are from five different vocalists. Each song jumps all over the place, changing tempo and even genres. Perhaps the most dramatic example of this is the track �Pretty Mess�, in which it starts out with an electro sound and by the end dives into hardcore. The toughest part about listening to this album is having the patience to get through each song. You know the next one rocks just as hard, and you can�t wait to hear it. Each song has its own uniqueness, and lengthens the replay value of the album. Overall, this album is good but not perfect, and that is exactly what makes me happy. I�m already highly anticipating the next album because I know it can and will be better. Until then, I will continue to enjoy listening to this one.

• I hate to come down on a band that I used to enjoy, but no one over 21 has dug this band since 'Never Had a Daddy', and that's just the way it is. The joke WAS funny, until the band reformed like 4 times, I even recall one of their Creepy Crawl shows as literally my all-time top WORST show ever, and not JUST because the crowd was all teenage Hot Topic frequent shoppers.

• Whatever. they produce good music and songs that people can identify with. that's all that matters.

• Christian--The RFT is much more than a "free weekly paper"--For many local bands, its the biggest publicity they get just because of the weekly show dates! These guys are out there busting their A** pushing their name and trying to make some sort of living and theyre doing a dang good job at it. You havnt even heard horrible local music like I have...Ive been around as a photographer and a fan for quite some time now and trust me, ive been to some horrible horrible local shows. I was glad to have my ear plugs and be getting paid to take pictures or else I would have left. The FF release show was amazing. Its not for everybody, but youre completely writing the article from a biased view. Not even considering the enormous fan base that was at the show or the out pouring of support that they have even survived this long where other bands have failed--(The Junior Varsity, Calico System...) But you get paid no mater how much you completely bash a band or approve of them...The local bands dont get crap if nobody comes to their shows...

• Check your irony-gauge, friend. I'm acutely aware that a 200 word review tucked in the back of a free weekly paper is not going to change anyone's life. Most music (FF's included) is temporary and ephemeral, and likewise, my reviews aren't exactly designed to be anthologized - and you seem to agree. But then why are you still commenting on an article that came out one month ago?

But really, your writing is 100x lazier than the Femme Fatality lyrics you denounced. Shame on you an the RFT for stabbing a hard-working hometown band in the back. It was suchan obvious attack. But you know what? You're not the judge. The fans are. Your review will be forgotten. Femme Fatality won't.

• You're not very good at this, are you? Why would I be listening to MP3s at a record store? Duuuuuuuuuuuuuh!

• I was having a pretty bad week last week. This album is probably a lot better than I gave it credit for, and there's a guitar song on here called "Still Alive" that really shows the band has progressed.

• Even If Christian didn't like this record it's a little odd to write something like this about a band in your own back yard. I sense the writer might have some personal issues with this artist that are unrelated to the music. There are so few examples in this review, and he doesn't even mention a single song title by name. I happen to really enjoy Femme Fatality, and these new songs are so different/faster/harder than anything they've done in the past. The RFT should be ashamed at itself for taking such cheap shots at one of St. Louis' best known indie artist.

• Delicious, Mr Christian. If anyone wants a load of giggles, ask any of the many ex-members of Femme Fatality about their times on the road. Oh man oh man oh mango. Good times.

• I think Chris might be looking for more than is here. It's goofy, 80s-biting electro-clash meant to shake butts and be disposable like bubblegum pop, that's it that's all. I hadn't heard them until just now, so I can honestly say that I enjoyed the songs, though probably not for an entire album.
