R.I.P. Hi-Pointe, Hello Par

Categories: News, This Just In

According to the South Side Journal, a bar called Par has finally opened in the old Hi-Pointe location at 1001 McCausland Avenue.

Owned by Darren Lueders -- the former pub manager at the Cheshire Inn -- the establishment will have a much different feel than the Hi-Pointe, which was known for its grungy, dive-bar rock atmosphere. From the story:

Leuders said he gave his establishment the name "Par" because "it's just kind of a different name. I wanted to go with something that was unique.

The bar now has exposed brick and exposed 12-foot ceilings to give it a "loft feel," Leuders said.

A custom-built 38-foot mahogany bar and two 52-inch flat screen LCD TVs are two of the pub's prominent features.. "It's a good spot to come, have a beer, watch the game," Leuders said.

The bar features homemade pizzas and will have basic appetizers like spinach dip and nachos. It will expand to burgers and other items.

It's open from 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. from Wednesday to Saturday.
