Idolator Spotlights the Creepy Crawl's "Top 39 Annoying Things That Bands Do"

• i went to the creepy crawl once.

• The Creepy Crawl's anti-band list may be accurate to some extent, and maybe even amusing at times, but damn; 39 points. The fact that they didn't do a more restrained (or more humorous) top 10 or 15 things they don't want bands to do speaks a great deal more about whoever's running the venue/website than it does about stupid bands. Because let's face it, we could all come up with a list of things that bands/venues/magazines/DJs/blogs/hipsters/record stores do that we're annoyed by, but most of us don't. Furthermore, most of us don't, you know, sit down and write a 39 point screed about it. If that's how you're feeling, maybe you're in the wrong business.

• I did one of these and it turned out to be a "local music showcase" ... 10 bands, only a handful are from the STL, one from freakin' Texas. We payed $75 for tickets, which sold pretty easily and walked with some cash, but it was still pretty shady and we've sworn off playing there. We responded kinda like the jokester above and got some nasty comments about how we didn't draw and how there was nobody there, when the truth was we outdrew the out-of-town band. Those guys are WEIRD over there. We make it a point not to pay-to-play ever anymore.

• The fact that those are almost all weekend nights, rather than just Wednesdays or Sundays like other pay-to-play schemes, speaks volumes about how low the Creepy Crawl has, uh, crept.

• Since when did the Creepy Crawl become The Whiskey where you pay to play? I don't see how much longer that place can stay open now that it books all of nothing.

• Fritz from the Strangulated Beatoffs told me he got one of those "offers" to play & he responded to them that they would happily play any of those shows if the venue would meet their $666 guarantee & provide a hot tub backstage. I have since responded that way as well & encourage all to do so. Jeff from the Creepy actually responded to that once & apoplogized for the spam & ha-ha'd about the hot tub...but then we still got another one like two weeks later.

• Wow, we must not have recieved one of these in awhile, because the Sunday Night Slaughter portion is totally new. That Kelsey... always thinking ahead of the game!
