Trip Daddys, Geargrinder to Play with Exene Cervenka at Pop's

Categories: News, This Just In

As if you needed another excuse to go see Rancid on Saturday night at Pop's (preview here), but Exene Cervenka is keeping her group the Original Sinners local once more.

Although the 7 Shot Screamers were once her backing (and opening) band, Cervenka has enlisted two members of the Trip Daddys (Craig Straubinger and Dennis Williams), husband Jason Edge (once of the Honkeys) and erstwhile Geargrinder Jeff Hess to be in her band. (Trip Daddys blog here.)

Exene and co. will also be playing a sure-to-be-insane show at the Schlafly Tap Room on July 12, with Rats & People and Black Diamond Heavies. For an interesting take on Cervenka's life in rural Missouri, check out this fantastic story which recently ran in the LA Weekly.

After the jump, take a look at Cervenka reading from her poetry book Virtual Unreality at Hickman High School in Columbia.
