No Depression.com Launched Yesterday; October 19 Lucinda Williams Pageant Show Part of Launch Parties

Categories: News

On October 2, the late No Depression magazine launched NoDepression.com. Says the press release:

"Like the magazine, which was the authoritative voice for roots music from 1995 to 2008, NoDepression.com stresses first-rate writing - now bolstered with audio, video and slideshows, and featuring daily updates of editorial content. At launch, the site will preview Lucinda Williams' album Little Honey and her North American tour, as well as a report from the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Upcoming content will include coverage of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival in San Francisco Oct. 3-5."

(The ACL article, by the way, was penned by the RFT's Roy Kasten; read it here.)

Other things of note from the email include the announcement of fifteen "NoDepression.com Launch Shows," held in tandem with MusiCares (the organization formed "to assist musicians in times of financial, personal or medical crisis"). Lucinda Williams' October 19 Pageant show is among those included. And finally, No Depression will publish a "bookazine" two times a year thanks to the University of Texas Press. The glossy, coffee table-book-like publication -- whose first edition features an article on the Duhks by Kasten -- will be out in early October.
