The Creepy Crawl is Closing; Last Show is Saturday, December 27

• Some great memories, when I was in college and finally lived in an area where touring bands came. Soilent Green, Crowbar, Goatwhore, Electric Wizard, Opeth, Pissing Razors, Cephalic Carnage, December, Hate Eternal, Pyrexia, Scar Culture, Bile, even the more local bands Lunatic, Deaden, Necrocreep, Lividity.. Some absolutely great metal shows in such a tiny a** venue -- the sound wasn't the greatest, but the bands were right in your face, and the admission was cheap. Still going to shows in Chicago, but Creepy Crawl will always be missed.

• I saw some ridiculously good shows at CC1, like Brand New, Sick of it All, The Movielife, Smoking Popes, Park, Further Seems Forever, The Lawrence Arms, Strung Out, and tons more. I didn't love CC2 quite as much, but I still saw some good stuff there, such as A Wilhelm Scream, The Draft, The Lawrence Arms, Strung Out, and The Tossers.

• Shut up dude. St. Louis lost something special with the creepy closing. I never made it out to 2.0 either, but now I really wish I did. There were some fantastic shows, and who can forget Wayne St. Wayne? Jeff was cool too, hope they make it back someday. RIP

• I saw ALOT of awesome shows at creepy. When it moved, it might as well have closed then. I didn't go to a SINGLE show at the new places and who cares. The good shows were few and far and the bouncing staff were about as intelligent as my shoelaces. They let their favorites start fights and throw out people protecting themselves. Also didn't give a shizz about the locals unless u were story of the year , and they let them take the stage and shoot their music video to somebody elses sold out crowd... Disgraceful starfrickers good riddance

• I have seen so many amazing shows at the Creepy 1.0. but i saw a lot of great shows at Mississippi Nights, The Other Side, The Side Door, 1227, Bernards, Hi Pointe etc. It will be missed but for me it closed when it moved. We shouldn't forget that Tim had reserved seating at Creepy 1.0 All (possibly the hottest show I have ever been to) Bad Brains H20 Sick Of It All Grade Saves The Day Hot Water Music w/Boy Sets Fire Breather Resist w/These Arms Are Snakes Coalesce Cave In No Means No The Utlraman Reunion Show Cult of Luna Doomriders A Life Once Lost Pelican

• If you guys want the same old thing everytime you see a show, you might as well just stay home. You can't force a place to be something its not! I'm sure aside from you lame ducks that there is atleast one kid out there that went to the creepy 2 and had the greatest night of their young life. Instead of trying to find nostalgia in the building or location find it in the staff, people, and what you're really there for THE MUSIC. • Reading many of the above comments, I almost wonder if one contributing factor to the Creepy Crawl's demise is that the new place "wasn't the same" as the old one. Forced nostalgia can't be the only reason for the Creepy Crawl's closure, since it appears to be following in the footsteps of other musical venues closing shop (Frederick's, Mississippi Nights, Lucas School, etc.), but if there's so much of a cry for how great the old Creepy Crawl was, that may mean that the new one was never given a chance. Just the old two cents...*plink plink*

• some more CC v. 1.0 love: Of Montreal Nebula The Fucking Champs The Thermals (played a 20 minute headlining set for about 20 people) and let's hear it for the chain link fence! The only show I saw at 2.0 was Dr. Dog and was I really disgusted with the cleanliness and complete lack of direction the new club had. If the original Crawl had a Mission Statement it was pissed on and thrown away during the move.

• Ahh what the heck, I'll chime in about CC 1.0. I never even went inside CC 2.0, sadly (or...not?). I'll always be grateful to Jeff for giving Mustardfish a chance (and letting me set up shows here and there) when nobody else gave a darn! Memorable times at Creepy Crawl v1.0 (keeping in mind I never went there before, say, the year 2000): -Oops! Tour (Erase Errata, Arab On Radar, Lightning Bolt, The Flying Luttenbachers, and The Locust) -The White Stripes -Les Savy Fav -Puerto Muerto -The Groovie Ghoulies -The Frogs with Fake Brain (and Mustardfish) -Dismemberment Plan & Death Cab For Cutie -Peelander-Z -Like a billion others I am sure I'm forgetting. For what it's worth, to this day I've probably played there as much as or more than anyplace else (with various outfits). RIP!

• It's obvious the old location of course had different vibe than the new place. To me it was as great as it was because it grew or rotted to it's later state over time. The layers of flyers and grime each telling a story about a bit of time and fun. Creepy managed to create a real word of mouth equal to that of The Outhouse in Lawrence, KS as the place to play in the Midwest for touring bands. Once the name was ripped from that building it really never could be the same. I'm not sure that an attempt was made to make it the same other than the bands booked there after the move. I had a lot of fun at Creepy even when the shows blew beyond belief as toothless hoosiers growled from the stage about Satan and Busch beer. The second floor was the scene of a lot of fun too but those are other stories. Best shows there off the top of my head would be discovering Grade, Wretch Like Me and Dead Lazlos Place over a couple of months in late 1998. Beyond that best shows were The Dragons, Hot Water Music, UK Subs (come on, I have to list that one, right), Charger St. Gang, Riverboat Gamblers, Bad Brains, GBH and that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure I could think of ten more if I tried. Anyway, it's a shame to see it go but I'm afraid it had already gone.

• !!! at creepy crawl 1 was a can't miss show.

• Yeah, CC 2.0 wasn't what it could have been. It's a shame because Jeff's totally a swell dude. A bunch of 1.0, but a few 2.0 mammories: - The Dirtbombs - The Detroit Cobras - The Von Bondies - The Riverboat Gamblers But I guess those bands would have been impressive anywhere they played.

• I think everyone kinda assumed it was just a matter of time after the move happened. Standout shows I saw at the old 'Crawl: -Guitar Wolf -Shonen Knife -Greenhornes (last show w/ Brian Olive, featuring an onstage brawl and everything!) -Captured by Robots -Dillinger Four (I was also there for Paddy's filthy-toilet headstand) -Shattermask

• Yeah, I've got a lot of Creepy Crawl 1 memories (Guitar Wolf, (International) Noise Conspiracy, the Strike/Odd Numbers, the Briefs, Moral Crux, Nomeansno, the Dillinger 4's Paddy doing a headstand in a vomit-and-piss-filled toilet) and exactly one Creepy Crawl 2 memory (Neil Hamburger).

• Grand Center will surely crumble now....what will Vince Schoemehl do? (more surface parking sounds like a good idea!) I guess it sucks that it is closing, but honestly who gave a fuck after it moved? Nothing got booked anymore and it was sterilized. This is not Mississippi Nights closing. I used to long for Mississippi Nights to reopen, but venues are a time and a place, not a name. Creepy Crawl 1.0 was great, this place was not.
