Indie Rock Swap Meet + Lettuceheads Reunion at the Schlafly Tap Room, Friday, January 9

• Not really anonymous. Just don't blog much. Or should I say, ever.

• You could probably get me to buy every band's musty tapes and CD's at said swapmeet if Schlafly could find a way to create and exact replica of the old Ciceros from the top of the steps to the awkward back door steps and fill it with exact replicas of the faces sounds and smells that used to be there. Christian- not to call you out on a blog, but that Catalpa was always and has forever been a cassette. The fact that you refer to it as a CD makes me think that a now brother-in-law of yours who reluctantly attended a Lydia's Trumpet show at the recommendation of a young woman in his clay sculpture class and then didn't miss a show until they disbanded may have without permission transferred the tape to a CD format and made some officially looking CD cover for you. -Signed- 90's bands GHAL, Mr. Pink Jeans, & Prune member and the recipient of the Make a Wish Foundation-type honor of being the last drummer in Lydia's... and brother-in-law to CS... • If I were, say...a "Galacti-Cat" prowling the all night diner scene to make a few bucks, and I had a good friend (let's just say a she-cat), and she LOVED animals (particularly reptiles). And I just didn't know what to get her for Christmas back in 1993. Whatever could I give her? Meow?

• Man oh man oh man. If that cd'n been as good as they were the first ten times I saw at Cicero's they'd a been St Louis's first signing to Elephant 6. Seriously. I love love love every stage of the Lydia's Trumpet journey, but man oh man oh man, that first burst they had was some of the finest psychedelic pop this city has ever produced. For close to a year they weren't my favorite local band, they were my favorite band full stop. Wowza.

• And by "Catalpa" 45 I of course mean the "Valentine" 45 (listening to it now - so fine). "Catalpa" was the first CD, which still pops up around town. Grab it if you see it.

• It was a bittersweet experience when I came across the Lydia's Trumpet "Catalpa" 45 for $3 in a Chicago record store. Since I owned it already, I decided to let someone else discover how great they were. And that Lydia's/Pink Jeans split is the shit. I think I bought the last ever Mr Pink Jeans "US Mail" 45 from Vintage in 1999. But then my bro-in-law was the drummer, so I could probably scrounge one up if I had to.

• Oh Lettuceheads not one drop of sad. That's gonna be rulez! It's the potential closet skeletons being exhibited at the swap meet/freak show that could be depressing. Or amazing! Like I said, colour me in!

• Hah hah...you have leftover Northerns 45s? Man, Mr. Pink Jeans/Lydia's Trumpet split cassette, that sounds too hot not to own. Who/what the heck else might we see there? Once you have a horn section (Lemmons 10/24/08) it's hard to go back.

• BWahahhahahahahahhhhhhhhaaaaaa! BWHAGHAWGHWHA!!!!! O, fig. I'm a moron. Now, who's going to see Googolplexia tonight at the Mange? I hears theres agonna be a horn-y section? Hot! -jwjwwjwjjw mnago.

• I'll have to get to work making bootleg copies of the one original cassette I have of The Exit's "Enlightenment" featuring "Every Lie Is Told on Sunday" and their kickass version of "Paint it Black". Maybe I can also dig up some Mr. Delicious tapes. This is going to be awesome.

• Awesome or sad? Where is the sadness in all the love I feel for you, Matt Harnish? And all the love you feel at hearing the mighty mighty Lettuceheads play their nonpareil pop punk pieces live? Last time I saw the Lettuceheads I flipped. Such songwriting. If I can cop some kind of recording of them at this thing I surely will.

• I don't know if this idea is awesome or sad, but color me in nonetheless. Hopefully I can cop that Lydia's Trumpet/Mr Pink Jeans split cassette that I never got around to getting. And maybe I can unload some Northerns 45s. Who reading this even knows what the Hell I'm talking about (other than you, Rob)?

• Man, this looks really awesome. Local rock swap meet...brilliant idea.
