Lucas School House To Close After New Year's Eve Show

Categories: This Just In

The Soulard venue Lucas School House will be closing after its New Year's Eve show with Jake's Leg and Naked Groove. In the two-and-a-half years it was open, Lucas hosted a diverse group of local bands and national touring acts, including Mitch Easter, Robbie Fulks, Ha Ha Tonka, Backyard Tire Fire, Webb Wilder, and Mosquitos, just to name a few. Co-owner Dan Jameson sent over the following statement:

The final show will be New Year's Eve with Jakes Leg & Naked Groove. Prior to that we have some great shows that will make for a fun final two weeks; including Adrian Legg, Café Soul, Fresh Heir, The Unconscious & Fragile Porcelain Mice.

While the Lucas School House is closing in its current location, we are in the process of a plan to move to a new facility that will be larger and in my opinion even better than our current home. It is a large project, there are several parties involved and details are being worked out.

It has been a truly amazing 2 ½ years and we have met and made many new friends. We appreciate all who have supported us on this adventure and hope that they will follow us as we continue our journey. In the meantime, I hope everyone who has come to love the School House will come out to one of the great shows that we have through the end of the year.

In a separate phone interview, Jameson said that the new venue won't be located in Soulard. He also said that there might be one last open-mic night, but that was unconfirmed as of now. Stay tuned for more details as we hear them.
