Tonight! Target Market CD release show at Off Broadway + New MP3
Consider the preconceived notions and past memories you might have about Target Market, and then forget them all. In the past year or so, the Edwardsville quartet has evolved into a formidable live act whose Pavement-esque askew tones, fuzz-coated riffs and taut rhythms compare with any nationally buzzed-about band. (For comparison, think a choirboy version of Guided by Voices or a corn-fed Built to Spill.) Target Market's forthcoming LP, Up On the Moon -- which is due out online May 5 and in stores in June -- tones down the manic Pixies blurts of 2006's No Thrills, in favor of smoothed-over, nuanced keyboard-pop.MP3: Target Market, "At the Point of Singularity"
