Sorta last-minute post here, but I forgot to mention that Target Market is holding a CD release show for its new album, Up On the Moon, tonight at Off Broadway. I had this to say; new MP3 after the jump.
Consider the preconceived notions and past memories you might have about Target Market, and then forget them all. In the past year or so, the Edwardsville quartet has evolved into a formidable live act whose Pavement-esque askew tones, fuzz-coated riffs and taut rhythms compare with any nationally buzzed-about band. (For comparison, think a choirboy version of Guided by Voices or a corn-fed Built to Spill.) Target Market's forthcoming LP, Up On the Moon -- which is due out online May 5 and in stores in June -- tones down the manic Pixies blurts of 2006's No Thrills, in favor of smoothed-over, nuanced keyboard-pop.
All MP3s are posted for sample purposes only, and always with permission from the artist or label. If you like what you hear, go out and support the band/musician by buying their record!
