Well, here's something I never expected to see: Brookville -- the Andy Chase-lead indie-pop band that opened for Trashcan Sinatras here in August -- and Camera Obscura/Beach House-esque indie-rockers the Postmarks just announced a show in St. Louis on Monday, October 12. The venue? Pop's Blue Moon, on the Hill. No more info as of yet, except that these two bands are so worth going out on a Monday night to see. Both specialize in gentle, fluffy-clouds music full of sweet, blissful melancholy. Brookville is releasing a new album, Broken Lights, on September 29, while the Postmarks' Memoirs At The End of the World is out now. The following is the former's cover of The The's "Slow Emotion Replay."
Salamander: sorry you thought I was in a sour mood...in fact, I WAS. I had just been informed that my wife was about to have emergency surgery back in NYC and I canceled the rest of the tour and left Chicago immediately the next morning to get back to her asap. Hopefully next time you'll come again and give us a another chance?

Andy Chase was in a sour mood when he played in Chicago. His demeanor and attitude completely turned us off to his band's performance. The cover was a pleasant surprise to an otherwise bland set.
I really enjoyed 'em when I saw them with Trashcan Sinatras over the summer - hoping to be able to catch them again this time around, as well!
