Danno's Pub Open in Former Cruisin' Rte. 66 Location

Categories: News
According to a post by Chris Muether of the Lonely Procession on BeerAdvocate.com, he's working at Danno's Pub (7895 Watson Road), a new live-music venue which opened in the spot formerly occupied by Cruisin' Rte. 66. On Tuesdays, the spot is having a series of live jazz music -- with a twist:

Befitting the theme of the night we're also pleased to offer a special 3.50$ price on Brother Theolonius 'Belgian Style Abbey Ale.' Produced by North Coast Brewing out of Northern California, this brew is a domestic interpretation of a Belgian Trappist Ale, most often attributed to the Benedictine Monks of Belgian Monasteries. This clever play on the term "Monk" is more than a just a tribute to the legendary jazz pianist, as 2$ from the sale of every case is donated to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, 'whose mission is to offer the world's most promising young musicians college level training by America's jazz masters and to present public school-based jazz education programs for young people around the world.'

Interestingly, Muether notes in the post that Cruisin' used to be known as George's Rt. 66 -- and that "Dan Muether was George's son-in-law, and i'm his grandson. We're both working to carry on a family tradition of providing a homey, comfortable, bar environment for our guests." Quite cool. More info as I know it.
