• Before discovering AFI, I had basically given up. Having to live with the reality of watching my mother loose herself to alcoholism, I had shut down-just gone numb. AFI's music was a catalyst in helping me out of that hole of depression I had fallen into. I have been a fan for over six years, and I would love the opportunity to thank them. The music has carried me through so much. This band is my heart. Thank You!

• While searching for an AFI contest for the upcoming South Florida show, this page came up 3rd in the search results. I saw them at The Pageant in '07 and they were just as amazing as I had imagined. I also scored photos with them in the back parking lot outside their bus an hour after the show ended! Anyhow, I am commenting and putting my 2 cents in because this girl Ashllee has SO much support from her husband and best friends to come on here and show their dedication to both her and the band. If these stories are truly being read I would absolutely pick her. And she's becoming a nurse!! So who knows.. you might be sick one day and she will be taking care of you.. so take care of her now :) Either way, congrats to whoever the winner is but good luck Ashllee!!!

• AFI has been my favorite band since middle school. Im 18 years old and i havent been to that many shows and i have always dreamed about going to an AFI show. i had the pleasure to meet them and get there autograph once in Clairmont at rhino records but have not have the pleasure of seeing them live. Now there new album crash love came out and i was hoping for them to tour in california but they are not. i would love so much to see them live and have the pleasure again to meet them thank you Erick Gonzalez

• Me and my friend are die hard fans of AFI and we both have pretty much every CD and accesory that has to deal with AFI because of our parents but we have never been to a single concert because we personally don't have enough money to get our own tickets. And trust me we've been trying to get jobs for the past 6 years and no one would hire us for some reason. And then we heard AFI was comming here again after like 5 years and we just went crazy if we cant get tickets we just plan to stay outside and listen that way or try to catch AFI as they're leaving or something..But it would be soooo awesome to actualy SEE and MEET them!

• I've been a AFI fan for years. I'm a member of the Despair Faction. Their music has gotten me through some pretty rough times. I've been to every show in the midwest since I've been a fan and would love to finally get to meet the guys who have had such an influence on me. The past month has been hell for me, just the thought of this and the possibility that I may be able to meet the guys has put me in a much better mood.

• Please choose my wife, Ashllee!!! She has been obsessed with AFI for years now, to the point that all of our friends know all about the band. Her friends have even made her some AFI items, such as a photo bag devoted to AFI, and an AFI quilt. For Valentine's Day 2005, I got her a membership to the Despair Faction and she still won't even throw the box away!! We were supposed to go to the concert back in 2/14/07, but we had an enormous icestorm and power outage and we not able to go. We were driving in the car this year when we first heard "Medicate". After the first three notes, she recognized that it was AFI and started screaming and cranked up the radio!!! It would mean so much to her, and she has been working so hard as a Practical Nurse in a Critical Care unit, and now as a Registered Nursing student. She knows every AFI song from Black Sails in the Sunset, Sing the Sorrow, The Art of Drowning, Decemberunderground, etc. and is constantly listening to Crash Love now, on the car Cd player, on the computer, or on her MP3 player. As her friends Tammy Coulson and Jessica Nihiser have said here, she really is a huge fan and a wonderful person. She is an very caring person, she just tries so hard to help people and is always there for people. I love her so much, and I know that this would make her so happy, please please please consider Ashllee Davis!

• I think I should be picked because I attended the in-store signing in Scranton on October 20th and missed Davey. I was estatic the next day because I was going to my first AFI concert (Fan for 4 years and DF member for 3 years) but found out the show was cancelled. I broke down and started crying because I was upset but at the same time I wanted Davey to get better and his health is important. Also, my birthday is on November 3rd and I think it would be the best thing ever to see my first concert by my favorite band for my birthday.

• I have loved AFI since Sing the Sorrow and they have had a huge influence on my life. I own all of their cds, I have an AFI tattoo, and am a member of the Despair Faction. I've only seen them live once though, and it would be an amazing experience to meet the band who have influenced my life in the way they have. Also, my best friend is a big fan (if not bigger) and if I win, I would take her because I know it would mean the world to her.

• I have been in love with AFI for almost 6 years now. I love every single song and I greatly enjoy that they aren't afraid to do something new. I adore these boys, they are such a grand inspiration and bright light in my life. They changed my life, for the better I believe. They've been a shoulder to cry on and a voice of reason. I don't believe I'd be quite the same had I never discovered them.

• I would love to meet AFI again, but the reason that I would love to win isn't for me - it's for my mom! She was just recently converted into a big AFI fan after constantly listening to me talk about and play their music for years. She even went to four dates last year with me just to take pictures, but hasn't been able to meet the band yet, though she'd love to. She's driven me hours away from home just to see a band that she only just recently really started to like and listen to, and who knows how much money she spent on me getting their things when I didn't have enough to get it myself. She once bought me over $200 worth of AFI merch and collectables for Christmas one year! She just joined the AFI fan club, too, in hopes of catching the guys before the show in the DF line.

• Without going into my own little drama of a southern Indiana girl life, I would like to focus on AFI, and why they mean so much to me. Without their music, I'd be stuck listening to Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Bros. I led a sheltered life musically before I listened to Sing the Sorrow. If I won the tickets, I'd take my sister who introduced me to AFI in the first place as a huge thank-you. Although I have not been a fan since their formation ( I was in diapers while they got their band moving), that does not make me any less devout than the hardcore fans. I joined the Despair Faction this year and submitted an entry to the Begin Transmission contest. I am not a DU band wagon fan, I just happened to find AFI later in their career than others. I enjoy their music from their humble hardcore beginnings to the straight up rock Crash Love is. I would hack my arm off with a rusty X-acto knife for a chance to see and meet my heroes. They have taught me it's okay to feel disillusioned and I am not alone in this respect. It's okay to feel despair and not be "emo" and whiny about it. AFI are all strength and perseverance and I'd like to model my own life after that. So far there has not been an Indiana tour date, and that pretty much sucks. I'm unable to just make a road trip to another state because of trivial things like school and lack of money and transportation. Give a wanna-be punk like me a chance to meet the guys who've changed my life with a song. Thanks

• Everything began for me on a hot summer day back in 2006. Me and my mom were headed out to Walmart to pick up a couple of things. The radio was on, and I heard a song I thought I knew. I turned up the radio, and I heard the best thing The Edge had ever played that year - Love Like Winter. The announcer said it was "Love Like Winter" by AFI towards the end of the song. So, we made it to Walmart. I was impatient to get home so I could get on my laptop to download this newly discovered musical art. From then on, I was hooked. I started doing my research, looking into their older music. But amazingly, with them being my favorite band, I have never seen them in concert once. Oh, did I mention I was 14 when I heard the song? Anyways, I could never afford to purchace a concert ticket. I was not allowed to go to anything with mass amounts of people. Plus, my parents disapproved of the music I listened to. AFI is an amazing band, and if I could win that pair of tickets, I would bring my best friend Cassie with me. She's the only other person in my school that I know that loves AFI as much as I do. But most of the time I find myself looking over AFI pictures, most of which are live photos, with a bit of jealousy. I love this band so much, but never had the chance to see them live once? It's not really fair. Hell, even meeting them is too much to ask for. I would just love the chance just to be in their view, with the concert lights beaming across the stage and crowd. Please consider me, thank you for the time you took to read this. I know this long essay is dramatic, but it's true.

• I am not going to write some long drawn out story, but the truth of the matter is that AFI got me through one of the most difficult years in my 33 year existence on this earth. My Best Friend age 33 died of Alcoholism, and my Engagement a few weeks after that ended. I just would like to tell the band simply thank you for the music they write.

• My friend and I are huge fans of AFI and we would be so happy if we met them. We are both 15 years old and sophomores in high school. I have listened to AFI since 2004 and loved them since 2005 because my cousin introduced me to their music. Because I listen to their music and love them, I now refrain from drinking alcohol and smoking (and I'm only 15). I also do not eat as many animal products as I used to because all of the band members are either vegans or vegetarians. Unfortunately I can't be a full vegetarian or vegan because I'm anemic. Whenever I listen to AFI it makes me happy and I love Davey's voice. This year and last year have been really depressing for me, but AFI always cheers me up.

• Well, not trying sound like every other AFI fan but their music saved my life. I am a proud and long time member of the Despair Faction, I have an AFI tattoo. The last time they toured, I was out of town, and the time before that, when they were promoting Sing The Sorrow, i wasnt allowed to attend their show because my parents said they were "devil music". ( i was in 6th grade at the time). so needless to say, this will be my first time FINALLY seeing them. even if i dont win, congradulations to whoever does. And i'll be there, front row center.

• I wont lie. AFI didnt enter my life until the school year of 2006. But, when they did enter, they entered at full force. They inspired me to be sXe, which alot of fans do lack and, no, it is not a rule that you must be straightedge to be and AFI, but it has definately been an up in my life. They also inspired me to play my guitar and piano more, opening me up to a new, creative, version of myself. They also brought me and my signifigant other together, and we have been so for three years. They have done so much more for me, but some things I woulkd just like THEM to know. AFI is just...they are a blessing to me, and I'm in no way a religious person, but something greater brought those men to us. I dream that i can one day meet them and tell them how much they have helped me, my friends, and my career. I hope that one day I can thank them for everything they did. And, with no lie, I'd just love to meet them.

• Just as it has been for most of the world i am sure, this last year has been exceptionally difficult for me. Life has dealt its blows one right after the other. Like most people out there i came from a broken home as a kid. My father was completely absent and my mother had to work constantly to make up for his absence. due to the choices my parents made i didnt have a whole lot growing up and my opportunities for personal growth were next to non-existant. During all of this the one constant that I could count on was the relationship i shared with my uncle Mark Jett. He was the closest thing i knew to a father growing up and is largely responsible for helping shape me into the man i have become today. He is and will always be my superman. In may of last year i received a phone call letting me know he had been stabbed to death on the street of his home town protecting his daughter from a sex offender. in a downward spiral of events following, i was fired from my job for needing to take time off to attend funeral services and to mourn with my family and have been driven into over 20,000 of debt trying to pay off rental leases and utility bills. I have next to no social life and can't remember the last time my paycheck went to anything besides keeping a roof over my head and food in my stomach. For the past 9 years AFI have been my comfort everything. No matter what ive been going through at any given moment there music and message have been able to see me through it. It would mean more than anything if i were given the chance to thank them for everything they have been to me.

• AFI has been my favorite band for over 6 years now, and they were one of my favorite bands before then! I have seen them live every chance I get, which sometimes means driving across the county and back in 2 days just to see them. I have lived in the St. Louis area my whole life and so I am super excited that they are coming through on this tour! I am a senior biochemistry student at Missouri S&T, so my chances to see the band are much more limited than they once were. And since I am getting through school without loans, I am also very limited on money to go see them. Free tickets AND meet and greet passes are a dream-come-true for me! I would love a chance to meet the band and tell them how much their music means to me and how it has helped me become the person I am today! Through the years, I have become friends with many other AFI fans, so chances to go to concerts like this are so much more than just seeing the band that means the world to me live, it is like a giant family reunion. Today, some of my best friends are friends I have met though our common love for AFI. Also, in the 6 years I have been an member of their fan club, I have NEVER, even once gotten into a meet and greet, and now that they are not doing them, this may be my last chance to make it into one.

• the first time i heard Silver and Cold i knew from that day forward that "whoever" that band was, would be my favorite band forever. Forever is a long time, but it's been six years and i still love them. AfI's music motivated so many factors in my life: vegetarianism, straight edge, my love for music, and the desire to live. I have lived in St. Louis all my life. I have spent countless hours in the loop, and it would make my life if i could spend time in my hometown watching my favorite band. Moneys tight for a college student.

• I have been an AFI fan for six years. I have been a member of the Despair Faction for five years. AFI are my favorite band of all time. No matter what mood I'm in, AFI are always the perfect and best band to listen to. I live two hours away from St. Louis surrounded by cornfields. My friends have never even attended a real concert before because we live hours away from a good venue. It's tough for me to pay for tickets these days. I would greatly appreciate it if I was given the most amazing chance to meet the band. thank you for your time.

• I think i should win because i dream to know afi every day and i live in brazil. Afi never came here and i want a chance to know the band.I travelled to miami and orlando and i spent all my money in afi cds and now i have them all.I knew afi by guitar hero and i played miss murder so many times and know i cant play it on expert without look to the game.I love afi and especially davey havok and it would be amazing knowing the band. I hope that someday they come to brazil.

• Let me just say that I love AFI's music. but i am not writing to tell you how much i love the band (even tho i do) i am writing because my best friend is AFI's BIGGEST fan! she is an amazing person who would bend over backwards to make the people around her happy. she puts everyone else first and always herself last. she is going thru a really hard time right now. she is a full time college student. she works her butt off studying and maintaing straight A's. she has done so much for me and my daughter (her godchild). yet she has never asked for anything in return, but my friendship. she has been there for me thru thick and thin and would give the shirt off her back if that's what it took to bring a smile to someone's face and brighten there day. She has done so much for me and everyone around her, I would love to make her biggest dream come true and that is to meet the members of AFI. thank you for the chance to tell you about one of the most important people in my life and giving me a chance to put her first and make her dreams come true!

• I absolutely love AFI, they are my favorite band ever!!! Davey is a beautiful lyricist and I love their music. It would mean the world to me if I was able to meet them. As everyone else, I am going through a rough time financially. I am a full-time nursing student and have absolutely have no life except for school. • I love AFI and have been a fan for a very long time and would love to see them at The Pageant which is my favorite venue (and I've traveled to many states/venues for shows) I have never seen the band at The Pageant and think it would be the BEST ever. When I heard AFI was coming I knew I had to go, but because of financial situations I was unable to buy a single ticket for myself. I just started a new job and don't get paid in time to be able to get a ticket and this makes me so sad. Please help cheer up a struggling working girl and let me win these tickets, please!
