[Updated] Smoking Ban Passed in St. Louis

• they need to do it like GA did if a place age requiedment is 18 and older u can smoke but any thing else there is no smokng. there for bars can still have it and ect. after ur 18 ur legaly grown you there for have a choice in rather u want to go inside a smoking establishment or not

• It's just so ironic that STL is the fattest city with the most leanent drinking laws and such! Get with the picture, that the rest of our country has already done and succeeded in! There is no reason people should have a problem to go outside to smoke besides being too damn lazy. Not agreeing to have a mass smoking ban is selfish. We really need to work on getting this bigger then just 2000 sq ft places.

• I'm a smoker and it doesn't bother me to smoke outside. Lived in New York for years and that was just standard procedure after awhile. Everyone adjusted. I'm just torn as we are just a big nation of rules. And rules for stupid things.

• I'm with Allison. I love The Firebird, but hate going there for shows because of the smoke. Great news!

• @Mike Cracchiolo : I LOVE that news, Mike! There are so many shows I'd love to see at the Firebird, but I have to pick my battles because of the smoke in close quarters. Having bigger smoke-free shows would rock my socks! Thanks for considering that! :)

• My house is about 2000 sq. ft., and it's a lot bigger than most of the bars I frequent.

• I'm pretty sure that is contigent on the County passing its smoking ban.

• Firebird is roughly 4,500 sq. ft. For our part we'd already been working on obtaining the proper permits to set up a comfortable patio area so that we could go non-smoking on bigger shows starting next year.

• The 3rd Degree Glass Factory advertises to have 7000 sq feet of space. Does that help?

• Well, if you have ever been to O'Leary's - that's about 4,500 square feet. Basically a place of 2,000 sq feet or less would be your average dive bar.

• Someone tweeted that an alderman claimed that 2000 sq. ft. was bigger than their house. My loft is about 900 sq. ft., so maybe 2000 is a medium-sized bar? Seems kind of backwards -- shouldn't the tiny places be smoke-free, since there's no space or good ventilation? As much as I hate smoke, it seems a tiny, tiny bit easier to avoid in a larger space.
