(Welcome to In the Studio, a section on A to Z that spotlights -- what else? -- local artists in the studio. If you are also recording/recently recorded -- or are a studio engineer/producer and working with people -- email me, with the phrase "In the Studio" in the subject heading.)

The Livers
Where: Firebrand Recording Studios
With Whom: Brian Scheffer
When: Says Scot Freeman: "We have been in and out for the last month and a half. Sneaking in like raccoons to record morsels of genius here and there around busy schedules."
What: "Six songs so far," he says. "After having some time to reflect, we may record a few more to make it not so much an EP but a short album."

When due out? "Hopefully we will be done by December," Freeman says. "Add some time for mastering and production and its looking like January-ish. We gotta put this sucker out ourselves, which adds a financial burden. I'll sell my car."
Sounds Like... "We tried to focus on writing much better music this time around," he explains. "The idea was so fun at first that we didn't really work on the music much. We did good this time. Writing good music is hard! It's still very LIVERS-y -- and by that i mean obviously influenced by all the late '80s/early '90s stuff that we wear on our sleeves.

"There are only two songs about girls recorded so far, which is a much less pathetic ratio than before," Freeman adds. "Seth from the Blind Eyes joined us on a couple songs, completely destroying his credibility. Everything is going very well! LIVERS are excited."
