Vegans Who Aren't Morrissey Also Love the Pageant
Morrissey's concert rider bans meat from whatever venue he happens to be playing that night, due to his staunch vegan status. (When he played the Pageant last year, the hot dog cart even had to take the night off!) We're not sure if that has anything to do with the following item, but who knows? Congratulations to the Pageant, which is one of five venues nominated for "Best Concert Venue" by peta2, the youth- and music-leaning animal rights arm of PETA. In the "Libby Awards" (short for "animal liberation"), the Delmar staple is up against the Mixtape Cafe (Grand Rapids, Michigan), the Rock N Roll Hotel (Washington, D.C.), the 9:30 Club (Washington, D.C.) and the Fillmore (Denver, Colorado). You can vote here -- just don't tell peta2 about the street meat outside!
