Hanging Out For Haiti, the brainchild of Jeff Bachmann and DJ FISH (a.k.a. Jon Nesselhauf), was held at Club 15 last Friday night, raising $2,600 at the downtown venue.

Guests pay a $20 cover at the door Friday night at Club 15, all of which was donated to the American Red Cross.
For a $20 donation, guests were treated to $5 you-call-its and hours of electro from DJ FISH, DJ Protégé, DJ Hart Attack, DJ Emilio Hernandez, DJ Vinylbitchie and DJ Beezie.

A gang of volunteer photographers greeted arriving guests with the full paparazzi experience as they stood on a swath of red carpet at Club 15, 1900 Locust Street. After running the gauntlet of flashbulbs, around 130 revelers enjoyed a night of cheap drinks, pulsing house and plenty of dancing.

Bachmann and FISH said their motivation for the nightclub fund-raiser came from a deep sense of obligation. As the pair watched CNN's coverage of the massive disaster, they wondered how they could pool their collective talents for the suffering people of Haiti.

"I feel in my heart that I have it way too good," FISH said. "When I saw what these people were going through with this earthquake, I needed to do what I could to reach out and try to help. So, I thought lets get some of my local DJ's together, throw this event and raise some money"

FISH convinced his fellow DJs to play the event free of charge.

Co-promoter Jeff Bachmann on Friday night.
Bachmann, a mild mannered public relations practitioner by day, has been throwing raucous parties at his Soulard townhouse for years. It was only natural to combine his networking skills and his affinity for epic get-togethers for a charitable cause.

"We really needed to help in some way, and it only made sense, since I have experience with events and FISH's a DJ, that we throw a great night of music to help the relief efforts in Haiti," Bachmann said.

Bachmann enlisted the help of some of his PR connections to donate their time and talent to the cause. Matchbox Design Group, The Composing Room, Photobooth StL and The Graphics Factory offered their services gratis.

"It went great," Bachmann said. "We raised a lot of money for a good cause and people had a good time doing it."
