Nickelback Tickets Are Almost Sold Out, You Guys
Nickelback (or "Nickleback," if you look anywhere else on the Internet) is coming to the Scottrade Center on April 23. Sick Puppies, Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin are also on the bill. On Friday, LiveNation sent out an email announcement warning that the show is nearly sold out. I know that the presence of Breaking Benjamin and Sick Puppies -- both of whom are hugely popular here -- is likely contributing to the draw. But BB and SP were just here in December -- and Nickelback sold out their Riverport Verizon Wireless Amphitheater show last August. The quick sales again so soon is surprising. No wonder Creed canceled its fall show here -- everybody's buying Nickelback tix instead.
But who are these fans? (Besides people who smartly plan ahead.) Even the Post-Dispatch's commenters think Nickelback is terrible. When P-D music critic Kevin Johnson blogged about the show in early January, this is a sampling of the responses he received:
