Collinsville emcee Jonezy describes his record Mr. (FillintheBlank) as "a self-scrutinizing journey into the highs and lows of my life, dramatized by my obsessive/compulsiveness and ADD...the premise of the album is me being a control freak, and finally somewhat accepting my complete lack of control."

The music doesn't always sound as heavy as all that but, blended with obligatory big talk/big cock raps like "All I got is my word and my balls," there is some serious weight being thrown around on some of his verses. "Fuck authority, school was just a bore to me," he rhymes on "Stick to My Guns," "They taught me more about war than peace."

It's conscious hip-hop in the soul-laid-bare Rhymesayers tradition (though he actually reps local label The Frozen Food Section). It should come as no surprise, then, that the SIUE alum is turning his weekly hip-hop night at Llywelyn's in the Central West End into a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
