Vintage Vinyl Says: "Don't Quit Your Day Job!"
Record stores have have long counted talented musicians among their ranks. A young Aimee Mann worked the counter at Boston's famous Newbury Comics chain, while locally, Jeff Tweedy worked at Euclid Records during his Uncle Tupelo days. But for this year's Record Store Day -- which takes place on April 17 -- Vintage Vinyl is spotlighting their talented employees of the present (and near-past) with a special release.
Limited to 300 numbered copies pressed on pink vinyl, the compilation record features fourteen songs from bands (Humanoids, the Misses, Bunnygrunt) and solo musicians (Tony Renner, VV co-owners Lew Prince and Papa Ray). The album's art will be just as unique: VV has enlisted local comics and artists to contribute exclusive cover art, including Dana Smith, Chris Kilcullen, Ben Sawyer and Nick Main. Full tracklisting after the jump. And of course, we'll have more info on all of the city's Record Store Day festivities as they're confirmed.
