Last weekend, BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups hosted an event which showcased Art Holliday's documentary, Johnnie Be Good. The film highlights the career of Johnnie Johnson, who is best known for playing piano with Chuck Berry's band.

On September 19, the Sheldon Concert Hall is hosting a fundraiser event to help aid in the film's production.

The event is a combination concert, expo and memorial. The headlining performers are guitarist Jimmy Vivino, bassist Mike Merritt and drummer James Wormworth, who were all members of the Max Weinberg 7, formerly the house band for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Aside from adding the soundtrack to late night television, these musicians also toured with Johnnie Johnson, and are featured interviewees in Johnnie Be Good. Dona Oxford, a protege of Johnson's, will also be performing.

Musicians will also be sharing their favorite Johnnie Johnson stories and their experiences working on the film. To end the evening, Art Holliday will be showing clips from the film and talking about the production process for this project, which he's been working on for seven years.

Further details and ticket information coming soon.
