Thirteen Questionable Mustaches from the Pitchfork Music Festival

As a fad or trend, mustaches are rather passe. (Shh -- don't break the hearts of the fine folks at the American Mustache Institute, who have made the facial hair their life's passion.) But someone forgot to tell the attendees of last weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival that not everyone can rock the 'stache. Still, photographer Jason Stoff soldiered on to find the dudes with the most unique -- or interesting -- facial hair, and brought back the following specimens.

Oates, is that you? Where's Hall? Oh wait -- that's just Local Natives frontman Taylor Rice.

Robin Yount would be so proud!

@JayM: I have several friends who would disagree vehemently! Wonder if i can convince them to comment... they file mustaches along with PBR and burlesque as being tired...

Personally, I'm a fan of facial hair; my boyfriend keeps a beard and 'stache -- the latter of the walrus variety; boy does he hate it, haha -- and I encourage it.

Annie, I'm afraid there haven't truly been a high enough percentage of moustaches around in the past decade or so to qualify as "fad" or "trend", despite media mentions, much less as being "rather passe" now. Personally, I'm overjoyed at seeing the moustaches I see here, and would continue to welcome as many facial hair options for men to exist as possible. As should you.

@Abe Froman: These 'staches can't hold a candle to your achievements. After all -- you convinced Oates to grow back his esteemed, iconic 'stache. For that, you will always be in the Facial Hair Hall of Fame.

I talked to the guy who you said will serve you a sasparilla at the saloon. He was there to promote his bar/brewpub whose theme is to look like a bar from the good old days. So your comment that he'll serve you a sasparilla, meant as a joke or not, is actually true.

I saw the ice cream dude and was impressed at his ability to survive the 90 degree heat in that suit. Of course, he was always near the Greyhound bus blasting AC to keep concert-goers cool...
