10 Things to Do for $10 This Weekend in St. Louis, Aug. 13-15, 2010

Categories: 10 for $10
As the temperature tops 100, RFT has discovered some cool ways to stay, well, cool in these dog days of summer. We've got art, music, magic and more indoors, plus a skate show and bike race for you daredevils who want to brave the heat. Viva la air conditioning! Friday

Unframable
The Regional Arts Commision isn't just hosting some works of art, it's transforming into a work of art itself, through massive murals covering its walls.

Mike V's Glory Bound Skatepark Tour
Ramps, riders, risk of life and limb. The tour features Duane Peters, a rider so old-school he was the inspiration for Tony Hawk.

Elsinore at the Firebird
The power-poppers CD release show celebrates their new album Yes Yes Yes, which allegedly took 1,000 hours of studio time to produce. Time well spent, indeed.

Midwest Magic Jubilee
Want to see someone get sawed in half? By a 99 year-old? Mind you, this is no gimmick -- magicians from all over the region will be on hand to mesmerize, hypnotize and maybe even vaporize you.

FORM 2010
Designers, architects, and artists are convening at the Luminary Center for the arts to showcase their functional art - furniture. Guests can bid on pieces while sipping complimentary New Belgium beer.

Friday the 13th at the Wood
Coreyography and Broasis will be headlining tonight's party at Maplewood hotspot the Wood, which will also feature live painting. Plus, no cover!

Saturday

David Dondero at Off Broadway
Musical philosopher David Dondero brings his indie-cum-hardcore sensibility to Off Broadway in support of his latest album #Zero with a Bullet.

Rams vs. Vikings (Pre-Season Game)
So technically tickets are at least $40, but you can head down to the bar to watch Sam Bradford don his blue and gold and see how Steven Jackson is holding up after off-season surgery.

Union Electric Record Release
Local rockers Union Electric are releasing their new album at Mangia on Saturday and will be joined by Cassie Morgan and the Lonely Pine

Sunday

New Belgium Urban Assault Ride
Registration for this city-wide bike race (with a twist) might be over $10, but you can observe the zaniness for free. Riders must compete in obstacles such as human bowling to complete the race.
