From September 3-5 -- that's this weekend -- the first North Coast Music Festival is happening in Chicago's Union Park. The lineup is pretty fantastic: Umphrey's McGee, Paul van Dyk, Benny Benassi, Chemical Brothers, De La Soul, Moby (as a DJ) and Lupe Fiasco are the main headliners, and the smaller tier of acts is just as solid. (See the poster on the right for the full list of performers.)

We're pleased to have one pair of tickets to give away to NCMF, to one lucky reader. To enter, leave your full name and a valid email address with a comment explaining why you need a break from labor. (Because, you know, this coming weekend is Labor Day Weekend.) Note: If not in Chicago, you have to find your own way there and a place to stay; we unfortunately can't provide transportation or lodging. This contest closes Wednesday at noon; the winner will be notified that afternoon.

I was actually just out looking for some RunD.M.C.Videos when I found this site...
After just moving to this wonderful city a week and a half ago, attending a new college where I don't know more than 4 people, living in a building with everyone over the age of 50, and trying to find a job, I believe I deserve a break to finally meet some down to earth chicago-ans. I want to see what this city has to offer besides the humid and sticky L train combined with traffic everywhere you go. I would thoroughly enjoy to see the laid back people that I know MUST exist in this city.
Doesn't everyone need a break from Labor? I just graduated, work for the White Sox, and haven't had a weekend off in months. I work every single game, 60 hours a week, and make less than $7.00 an hour with no overtime. I might be eating ramen noodles out of the garbage can soon! Also, if you need Sox tickets I'll trade :)
I work in union labor so this is my hiliday even thou I probably do not deserve it ,so just give me the dam tickets already or read some more sob I work oh so hard story.
If I won these tickets they would not just give me a break, but also give my best friend Mike a much needed break. We are both pre-med students so we have to work on school work and work to pay for it. We both love the lineup and seeing at least one Marley is a dream of Mike's. School has just started so this would be the one time where we would be able to do something like this. I need a break from labor because I work as a baker at 4 a.m. at a local coffee shop. I happen to have these days off from work and I had to miss Burning Man, so this is a well-deserved replacement! Let me see some Pretty Lights and help me remember the dirty bird Claude vonStroke!
Bumming around and hearing great music Chicago would be the perfect break after 23 hours of class my first week back from summer (when I worked full time).

I would LOVE to win this contest, and I'm the perfect choice: a) My wife and I already wanted to go to this festival but couldn't afford the ticket price due to also attending Pitchfork Music Festival and LouFest (which rocked!) and having a mortgage payment to make. :) b) I'm used to the drive up to Chicago (we go a few weekends every year and already have a guaranteed place to stay this weekend - a friend's apartment in Rogers Park). c) I love the lineup - Chemical Brothers is my favorite group. I haven't seen them since the last time they came to Chicago (9-24-07) and this is my only chance to see them this tour. I'm also over the moon about other favorite acts of mine being there - Moby, PVD, Umphrey's, Lupe (who I missed when he was here for Live on the Levee), and the always amazing Maps & Atlases! d) I need a break from work (don't we all!) Actually, if I won these tickets I would take Friday off too so I could get there in time for Chem Bros. So you would singlehandedly give me a reason to extend my 3-day weekend into a 4-day one! And I need some "me" time - I work 40 hrs a week as a graphic/web designer and then spend the rest of my time doing freelance design work (mostly for nonprofits who can't afford to pay for it�), and volunteering my time for worthy causes, and helping old ladies cross the street� (okay I made up that last one). e) I'm just an all around nice guy and I would really appreciate the tickets. I would give you a bunch of twitter and facebook shoutouts and maybe even send you a proper thank you note. I'm just grateful like that.
I run a business that would fail without me, but I have no ownership in it. I will not get another paid day off for 5 years (yes, i said five, and i am not exaggerating- that is what the owner told me 2 weeks ago) i get no profit sharing, i get no ownership in it, but yet i am only one of two people that work here total. I have had only 3 days off in 3 years because there is no one to cover for me. 6 months out of the year i work up to 16 hours a day not getting paid for more than 8-10. there is no exaggerations here, i can back it all up. also- i once bought two tickets to see the chemical brothers, and wound up having the flu and not being able to go, i would really really really love to get a chance to finally see them.

Living life no break,in a debt, illusions of one day being well off and set, A nice little home with blue skies above, knowing lifes only survival is music and love.

I would love to go to this festival! I just graduated from college in may, have been working full time, and now I have started graduate school full time while still working full time. I think everyone deserves a break. I'm excited for this festival!

All I do is work 6 days a weeks, and i haven't taken a day off of work in almost a year. When i'm not working i'm usually helping my friends and family with any problems they might have. I really need a break from LABOR, and would love to spend my Labor Day weekend with everybody at The North Coast Music Festival!
