Sammy Hagar Craps on Kings of Leon Over Pigeon Incident
1980s rock god Sammy Hagar is giving Kings of Leon shit for walking off the stage at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater -- a move the band has blamed on pigeon poop.
KSDK's Kasey Joyce asked Hagar in a phone interview posted online earlier today if he'd ever had problems with pigeon droppings while playing here.
"Hell no," Hagar said, laughing. "I've never had any problem with pigeon poop in St. Louis." Told that Kings of Leon had offered that as a reason for leaving the stage, Hagar seemed incredulous: "Is that what that was?"
Hagar said, "Well, then I'm mad at Kings of Leon."
Kings of Leon, Hagar said, used to be one of his favorite newish bands. But, he added, "any time I see somebody doing something like that ... I remember when Guns and Roses had all those problems in St. Louis, and I had to turn on them. I had to.
"I've got to side with St. Louisans. I've got to side with my boys."

Incidentally, today is Hagar's birthday. The man who can't drive 55 is now 63.
Correction: Thanks to our reader, Fish, who pointed out that today is not the Red Rocker's birthday after all. It is, apparently, just one day before the seventh anniversary (or something!) of the first-ever official Sammy Hagar Day in St. Louis, which was back in 2003.
And really, who needs birthdays when you get your very own day? No wonder this dude has got St. Louis' back!
