Avett Brothers Hint at New Music, In Advance of Tonight's Very-Sold-Out Show

Categories: Story Outtakes

Tonight, the Avett Brothers is playing a super-sold-out show at the Pageant. Tickets are being sold for way above face value on Craigslist (if any still exist out there for sale). Katie Moulton spoke with bassist Bob Crawford in this week's paper -- and in this outtake, he hinted that the band is thinking about new tunes:

Katie Moulton: Are there any new songs kicking around now at your shows?
Bob Crawford: We're playing a bunch. We've done a bunch of demos. We're in a good place with that, and there's plenty of great songs. When I say 'great,' I mean we're excited about playing and are having fun working on [these songs]. There's no shortage of that, and the writing continues. That's how it's always been, and we're thankful that's how it still is.

There is one other option to see the band, however: Vintage Vinyl is hosting an autograph session/performance with the Avetts in the Halo Bar today at 3:30 p.m. To receive a pass, go to VV and buy the Avetts' new Live, Volume 3. As far as I know, the event isn't sold out.
