Sleepy Kitty Signs to Euclid Records, Announces Release Date of Debut LP

Euclid Records, the record label arm of the venerable record store, announced today that it's signed Sleepy Kitty (a.k.a. the RFT's Best New Band 2010). Says the press release:

Plans are for the record, which will be released on vinyl and CD, to be in stores by the middle of February, 2011. Naturally, as Paige Brubeck and Evan Sult are also running a graphics design company by the same name as their band, the album cover will be designed by the duo as well.

This move isn't surprising: A few weeks ago, in our Last Collector Standing column, Sult had some thoughtful things to say about the role a record label plays in Sleepy Kitty's career:

We're really enamored with the idea of a record label, of whatever size, participating in what Sleepy Kitty makes. That's exciting to us, having someone back us and show support and deliver something to us that we couldn't do. We can do the other parts of our job -- making music, making the art for our music, touring for the music. Culturally, I would say the record label is getting more endangered than the vinyl record.

Euclid Records' other band is Troubadour Dali.
