The Decemberists: Coming to St. Louis?

When the Decemberists announced tour dates a few weeks ago, some local fans of the band were a bit grumbly, because the trek didn't include St. Louis. Judging by a new list of tour dates I just received from the band's publicist, however, people might have cause for celebration: The email lists a Decemberists date on Tuesday, April 27, at the Pageant with Justin Townes Earle. Now, the venue hasn't announced this show yet, so consider it -- say it with me now -- unconfirmed. Stay tuned. The band's latest, The King is Dead, is out now, and its acoustic, jangly textures are a far cry from the band's prog-concept album, The Hazards of Love. Here's the group doing a slightly different version of the new single, "Down By the Water," live in 2009:
