For many people, today is a drinking holiday -- whether you're celebrating St. Patrick's Day or reveling at SXSW. It's also a day to let loose those vocal cords, with these stellar drunk sing-along songs. Whether fun, maudlin or cheese-tastic, these ten songs are among the better specimens you can hear while inebriated. (Related content: The Ten Most Annoying Drunk Sing-Along Songs.)

10. Bonnie Tyler, "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
What is it about over dramatic songs that makes them a magnet for inebriated singing? Perhaps a drunk's inflated sense of talent. This tune in particular will challenge even the most talented warbler.

9. Guns 'n Roses, "Sweet Child O' Mine"
We can argue about genre semantics, but in the hard-rock-verging-on-hair-metal canon, this song has permanent cred and coolness, thanks to Slash's guitar solo and Axl's pristine, cat-in-heat yowl.

Also, "Big Shot" by Billy Joel--see the Tom Hanks-hosted SNL skit about barroom singalongs featuring this tune.

Try and deny your hoosiosity all you like, but without "You Don't Have to Call Me Darlin'" this list is not complete!

Chris, agreed on Wild Rover et al. Sad to say its 22 yrs to the day that I last saw the Pogues - my wife and sister-in-law cried out for Shane all evening. Not a tipple of brew had passed their lips of course. A bizarre note in their career: Sunny side of the St. was used as a Cadillac super bowl commercial.

Annie,I know its not Christmas, but surely Pogues's Fairytale of NY (or half their catalogue) should be included. Now I have Bonnie Tyler stuck in my head - and that's without watching the video.

Stlcityrocker, how about Wild Rover, that should be on the list or anything from "Rum, Sodomy and the Lash". Also conspicuous in their absence on this list are Flogging Molly and The Drop Kick Murphy's. Maybe that will get Bonnie Tyler out of your head.

For The Wire fans, it starts and ends with Body of an American.
