Both members of local hip-hop duo Scripts N Screwz released solo mixtapes last year. Scripts' Director's Cut is a gritty affair drawing heavy inspiration from Hollywood crime classics. It is fitting, then, that standout single "The Darkness" would get a music video straight out of some forlorn movie hostage scene. Watch below.

The video, which came out a couple days ago, features Scripts tied up in a warehouse, looking weary and being forcefully interrogated by his co-star on the song, soul singer Helen Marie.

"The Darkness" is a slow burner of a track, written from past the point of no return, no longer angry but resigned. The video was put together by Scripts, his hip-hop partner Loose Screwz and Mr. Blair. All three are members of a new art and design group calling itself Civil Ape.
