Blitzen Trapper and The Get Up Kids Coming to The Firebird in July

The Firebird is currently having a new air conditioner installed and it's coming not a moment too soon as they announced two sure-to-be packed shows today. Kansas City emo heroes The Get Up Kids will play their first date in St. Louis in some time at the 'Bird on July 15, while Portland folk rockers Blitzen Trapper will grace the Firebird on July 23. Blitzen Trapper's last played in St. Louis a year ago at Off Broadway and if the weather and crowd size from that show are any indication, the concert will serve as a good test for that new AC. Tickets for Trapper cost $15 and go on sale at noon this Saturday, May 7.

Some of The Get Up Kids have been here recently but it's been a long time since the full band played in St. Louis. This should alleviate the sting of being skipped on their last reunion tour. Tickets are $18.50 (or $20 if you wait until the day of the show) and go on sale at noon Thursday, May 12.
