Make St. Louis Proud: American Idol Auditions Come to Scottrade Center Tuesday
It's hard to believe American Idol is nearing eleven years old. That marks ten years of watching and laughing with (read: at) contestants, ten winners whose names we can remember only about half of, countless instances of celebrity pandering and hundreds of strangely inspired musical collaborations. And we remember it all fondly. If you, however, feel gypped by watching the combination of fame and humiliation in the making and think you have what it takes to combine the two on national television, put down the hairbrush, and hold onto your seat: Idol auditions are coming to St. Louis.
The search for season eleven's stars will begin this Tuesday at the Scottrade Center, making us the first stop on the search for the next Carrie Underwood, William Hung and that awesome "Kelly Clarkson!" line in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. If you are between the ages of 15 and 28 and eligible for employment in the United States, you are also eligible to become the next success story or embarrassing Internet meme (A to Z makes no guarantees).
The official audition process begins at 5 a.m. Tuesday, but the FOX dynasty's most enthusiastic fans may begin their quest for wristbands at 7 a.m. Sunday and return for tryouts on Tuesday. Wristbands will be dispersed through 8 a.m. Tuesday. More information can be found on the American Idol website. Sorry, no camping is allowed. Rocking Journey anthems over and over as practice, however, is highly encouraged.
