Local Rapper Trey Wright Earns a Spot on MTV's MADE
On Monday, the latest in a string of St. Louis residents to make it (or at least MADE it) debuted on the MTV show. Local high school rapper Trey Wright took a turn on the moderate reality hit in the pursuit of becoming a rapper and was paired with Brand Nubian emcee Sadat X as his mentor. The clip below shows the obligatory "currently untalented person meets talented mentor" scene, and this one takes it an awesome step further. In the 54-second clip, Sadat X manages to call Trey a "joke" in Vintage Vinyl.

We recently had the opportunity to see some of the episode's taping process in person, a brief and mysterious stint at the second annual S.L.U.M. Fest last month. The reality of reality TV, it turns out, is that it's fake. Trey was asked by producers to repeat the entirety of his set, intro and jokes included, in order to get a variety of angles. That seems like a little too much beauty time for a rapper whose online bio includes the following list of interests: "Rapping. Cocaine. Gunz. KLN. Hip Hop. Connie Life."
But we'll forgive him: The dude is, after all, in high school. Producer/partner Aaron Zuckerman's parents were in the crowd at the duo's repeat S.L.U.M. Fest gig, which made for a mildly awkward acknowledgment.
