Dr. Dog Is Coming To The Firebird

Dr. Dog has just announced its fall tour, and the slightly-damaged, sun-flecked rockers will be at the Firebird on November 5th. Tickets go on sale August 19th.

Dr. Dog has played St. Louis plenty over the years, including shows at the Gargoyle, Creepy Crawl and previous Firebird incarnation the Bluebird. The Pennsylvania band hasn't released anything new since last year's Shame, Shame -- we may hear some new songs getting a trial run at this upcoming show.

This should be a great one -- Dr. Dog is an excellent studio band that puts on an even better live show. The polish of recent releases hasn't diminished the vitality of the songs, and those harmonies work just as effectively now as they did in the late '60s.

Or the time they played the basement of the Red Sea restaurant in the Loop. Very bizarre show.

Hah I forgot about that. I wanted to go but I couldn't determine where the show actually was or if it was 21+ or not. They called their basement something funny when they had shows but I can't remember what.

Don't forget the time they played Mississippi Nights, opening for the Black Keys.
