Matthew and the Atlas
The Communion Music organization, which started in London as a collective and monthly showcase and has since expanded internationally into a promotion/label/musician catchall, is launching its U.S. operations with a tour featuring Matthew and the Atlas, The David Mayfield Parade and Lauren Shera. The tour, which is being co-presented by Daytrotter, comes to Blueberry Hill's Duck Room on November 3rd. Tickets are $12 in advance ($15 day of show) and on sale now at the Duck Room box office or through Ticketmaster.

Matthew and the Atlas was last seen in St. Louis opening for pals and Communion founders Mumford and Sons. In our review of the show, Katie Moulton was impressed with the band and singer Matthew Hegarty in particular.

Matthew and the Atlas won over the crowd early, thanks to Matthew Hegarty's stunning vocal range, control and power. With a soulful tremor that recalls Glen Hansard or Cat Stevens, Hegarty led the English quintet through folk that followed Mumford dogma: be as melancholy as you want, but make the melody swell.
