The Ten Best Things to do in St. Louis This Weekend: November 25 to 27

BOB REUTER book.jpg
Happy Capitalism Celebration day! This weekend is as packed as your small intestine. First things first: shopping.

Friday
This year, ditch the evil big box stores in favor of supporting local art and business. You will not get $200 off a 87-inch flat screen TV, but you will find beer and Beryl, the kitty cat in residence at Apop Records. New shit is fifteen percent off, used CDs are 30 percent off, and everything at their sister store, Binge and Purge, is also 15-25 percent off.

The Rock and Roll Craft Show is now in it's eighth year of existence, and it kicks off tomorrow. There'll be DJs on hand from I Went To A Show and KDHX (88.1 FM), as well as performances by bands like LA's Wonderground, Middle Class Fashion, and Jump Starts on Saturday and Sunday.

Assuming you aren't too embarrassed from your Skanksgiving showing at Atomic Cowboy, head there tonight for another Get Serious blow out. No cover for this one, and Chicago's Kool Hersh will be playing with Cor(e)yography. Party starts at 10 p.m.

Paul the Master, of King Kong Magnetics fame, will be at Vivirito's in Maplehood, celebrating his birthday and getting roasted by a cast of loveable psychopaths: members of KKM, comedian Jeff Robtoy along with Less and Escalade. It's free, and starts at 7:30pm. Poor Vivirito's. They do not know what they got themselves into.

Roy Kasten has this to say about Tandoori Knights:

Mephistopheles has his incarnations, Roky Erickson has his hallucinations, Jim Morrison has his myths and King Khan has been on a one-man, pants-dropping, primitive-rock-fucking, personality-multiplying mission to trump them all. Or so it would seem for the elusive Arish Ahmad Khan, currently touring with Canadian psychobilly Bloodshot Bill (now that a nasty U.S. travel ban has been lifted) under the name Tandoori Knights. If that sounds confusing, fear not, as no one has yet found the words for this kind of howling, hysterical mayhem. Rock & roll will have to do.
Off Broadway, 8:30pm
$12-14

Local infectious funk legends Funky Butt Brass Band are at Broadway Oyster Bar, starting at 10 p.m. $5.
