Midwestern indie rock band, the Orbz begins a month long residency tonight at El Lenador (3124 Cherokee St). The Orbz will play for free every Monday in July.

The Orbz started in 2006. In 2009, it released its first album "Stop! the Reporters will See."

Don't expect to hear the same songs each week. The band is introducing the "set list hat," an activity specifically designed for the residency. The band will toss in a mixture of old and new songs, originals and covers, for audience members to choose at random. "It's something to make it sizzle and be more organic," says front man Jason Robinson.

There are also guest appearances scheduled for each show. Tonight, Fred Friction and Saint Charles electro-rock group, Durango will be playing. Future guests include Bulletpop, Aquataine, Langen Neubacher and the Defeated Country, Ellen the Felon, Yankee Racers, multi-instrumentalist Chris Ward and Key Grip, an improv group brought to you by the Pat Sajak Assassins. There is also the possibility of Johnny Vega$ and the Revolving Door of Talent reuniting for a show.

As with most things at El Lenador, expect cheap drinks and good times all around. The members of the Orbz are pretty relaxed about the shows, though "Our job is to rock your face off," says Robinson.
