Great news this week for St. Louis' the Union Electric: The band's debut full-length has landed on the CMJ Top 200 chart after gaining steady airplay at community and college radio stations around the country for some time now. It's a richly deserved bit of recognition for a band that represents our city as well as anyone.

Time is Gold comes in at #196 this week, just beneath Asthmatic Kitty's Raymond Byron & the White Freighter and a couple spots ahead of the new album by Sera Cahoone. It takes an incredible amount of work to tell people outside of the city about your music, and it's a testament to the efforts of the Union Electric as well as the quality of the record that it is catching hold in enough markets to end up on this list.

Listen to the album below -- our current favorite jam is "St. Francis of Illinois" if you're looking for a place to start.
